The RTG at CALP4
The CALP 4 conference, hosted by the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg from March 18th to 20th 2024, focused on the usage-based approach and Construction Grammar in language pedagogy. The event brought together renowned linguists as well as young researchers from around the world, covering topics like constructicons, language acquisition, ditransitive constructions, bilingualism, constructions in L1, L2, L3 and motion constructions in various sessions. There were lively discussions and valuable exchanges of feedback among the participants.
Key highlights included workshops for English and French teachers on implementing Cognitive Linguistics and Construction Grammar theories in classrooms led by Thorsten Piske and Dirk Siepmann. Additionally, keynote speakers such as Adele Goldberg, Gaëtanelle Gilquin, Juliana Goschler with Anatol Stefanowitsch, offered insightful talks on constructions in language learning and teaching.
The conference facilitated lively exchanges of ideas and laid the groundwork for future collaborations in language teaching and learning by bringing together a wide range of scholars from diverse linguistic disciplines.
